Clean fit

Origin/United StatesCountry

Minimal dressing that works through silhouette rather than ornament.

Where it began

The term came into use online around 2020 for outfits stripped of anything unnecessary. There is no founding brand or origin point behind it; what got named was the method itself — hold the palette down, get the silhouette right.

How it spread

It settled in across the West and Korea, and is now treated less as a trend than as a baseline.

How to recognise it

Achromatic and undyed tones, straight lines, surfaces without logos. One bad proportion and the whole thing collapses.

What it costs

¥2,000–15,000. Its advantage is that cheap pieces still work as long as the fit is right.

Toward less

As owning less spread as an idea, clothes picked up the notion of making it work with fewer pieces.
